Section 02
Common Ingredient Categories
All Attar Emporium products are alcohol-free, water-free, concentrated perfume oils. Products consist of two primary component types: carrier bases and fragrance compounds. The following categories represent ingredients that may appear across our product range.
Carrier & Base Oils
Dipropylene Glycol (DPG)
A clear, odorless synthetic carrier widely used in perfumery to dilute and stabilize fragrance compounds. GRAS status; non-sensitizing for most users. INCI: Dipropylene Glycol.
Fractionated Coconut Oil
A lightweight, non-greasy carrier oil derived from Cocos nucifera. Odorless, long shelf-life. May be used in select traditional attar formulations. INCI: Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride.
Isopropyl Myristate
A synthetic ester used as a carrier and skin-conditioning agent. Aids absorption and reduces the oily feel of perfume oil on skin. INCI: Isopropyl Myristate.
Mineral Oil (Light)
A highly refined petroleum-derived carrier occasionally used in some traditional attar bases. Non-comedogenic at usage levels. INCI: Paraffinum Liquidum.
Fragrance Compound Categories
Oud / Agarwood
Resinous heartwood from Aquilaria species (primarily A. malaccensis, A. crassna). Used as a natural extract, distilled oil, or high-quality synthetic accord. Rich, dark, complex scent profile.
Rose Absolute / Rose Accord
Derived from Rosa damascena (Damascus Rose) via solvent extraction or steam distillation. Known sensitizer at high concentrations — see Allergen section. May be used as natural absolute or synthetic accord.
Musk Compounds
Synthetic white musks (e.custom-g., Galaxolide, Habanolide, Iso E Super) and/or ambrette-derived musks. All animal-derived musks are excluded from our formulations. See Animal-Derived section.
Amber Accord
A complex blend of labdanum, benzyl benzoate, vanillin, and/or synthetic amber compounds. Warm, balsamic, powdery base note found across Amber Collection products.
Benzyl Benzoate
A naturally-occurring ester found in many botanical extracts (Peru balsam, jasmine absolute, rose absolute). Used as a fixative and plasticizer. Listed EU allergen — see Allergen section. INCI: Benzyl Benzoate.
Linalool & Linalyl Acetate
Naturally occurring terpene alcohols found in lavender, bergamot, and many floral/woody materials. Present in many of our floral and exotic formulations. Listed EU allergens.
Vanillin & Ethyl Vanillin
Synthetic aromatic aldehydes that contribute warm, sweet, gourmand base notes. Present in amber, musk, and oriental-style formulations. INCI: Vanillin / Ethyl Vanillin.
Iso E Super (Iso E)
A widely used synthetic woody-amber compound (IUPAC: 1-(1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8-octahydro-2,3,8,8-tetramethyl-2-naphthalenyl)-ethanone). Present in many woody and oud-inspired blends.
Proprietary Formula Notice
Exact ingredient ratios, proprietary accords, and blend-specific formulas are protected as trade secrets under U.custom-S. federal and California state law (Cal. Civ. Code § 3426 et seq.; 18 U.custom-S.custom-C. § 1836). The ingredient categories listed in this disclosure represent materials that may be present across our product range. Section 04
Fragrance Allergen Disclosure
The European Union Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, Annex III, requires that 26 fragrance allergens be declared on product labels when present above 0.001% in rinse-off products or 0.01% in leave-on products such as perfume oils. As a globally responsible seller, Attar Emporium voluntarily applies this standard to all products regardless of destination country.
The following allergens may be present in one or more of our products depending on the fragrance formula. Not all allergens will be present in every product. Please contact us for product-specific allergen data if you have a known sensitization.
Allergy Warning
If you have a known fragrance allergy or chemical sensitivity, perform a patch test before use: apply a small amount to the inner wrist and wait 24 hours. Discontinue use immediately if irritation, redness, or swelling occurs. Consult a dermatologist or allergist for guidance. Do not apply to broken or irritated skin.
Section 05
IFRA Compliance
Attar Emporium sources fragrance compounds from suppliers who operate in accordance with the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) Standards, currently in their 51st Amendment. IFRA standards establish safe usage levels for fragrance ingredients in specific product categories, based on the scientific safety assessments conducted by the Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM).
Leave-On Skin Application
All perfume oils and attar products are classified as IFRA Category 4 (fine fragrance) leave-on products. Fragrance concentrations and restricted material levels comply with Category 4 usage limits.
Safety Data Sheets Available
Safety Data Sheets (SDS/MSDS) and IFRA compliance certificates for our fragrance compounds are maintained on file. Copies can be requested by verified B2B clients and regulatory bodies upon written request.
Prohibited & Restricted Materials
We do not knowingly include IFRA-prohibited fragrance materials. Restricted materials (e.custom-g., oakmoss, treemoss, hydroxycitronellal) are used only within IFRA-specified safe limits when present.
Section 06
California Proposition 65 Notice
⚠ Proposition 65 Warning
WARNING: This product can expose you to chemicals including coumarin, benzyl benzoate, linalool, and/or other fragrance compounds, which are known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. For more information, go to www.custom-P65Warnings.custom-ca.custom-gov.
Proposition 65 (the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986) requires businesses to provide clear and reasonable warnings before knowingly exposing anyone to chemicals listed by the State of California. This warning is required for California residents and does not necessarily indicate that the product will cause harm at the levels present in our formulations.
Many naturally occurring fragrance materials — including components found in rose absolutes, oud extracts, and amber accords — contain trace amounts of Prop 65-listed chemicals at or near regulatory threshold concentrations. We issue this warning out of an abundance of caution and full legal compliance.
Section 07
FDA & MoCRA Compliance
Perfume oils and attar products are regulated as cosmetics under the U.custom-S. Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act) and the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act of 2022 (MoCRA). Attar Emporium complies with all applicable provisions.
Under FDA regulations (21 CFR 701.3), fragrance ingredients may be declared collectively as "Fragrance" or "Parfum" on product labels without disclosing individual aromatic compounds — a provision that protects legitimate trade secrets. This disclosure document supplements that labeling to provide the maximum practical transparency.
Not Intended as Drugs
Attar Emporium products are cosmetic products intended solely for fragrance application on the body. No product is intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Claims of aromatherapy benefit, if made, are cosmetic claims only and not drug claims under the FD&C Act.
Section 08
Animal-Derived Ingredients & Ethical Sourcing
Traditional attar and Eastern perfumery historically incorporated animal-derived ingredients such as deer musk (muscone), ambergris, civet, and castoreum. Attar Emporium does not use any animal-derived musk, ambergris, civet, or castoreum in its formulations. All musk notes are achieved through high-quality synthetic alternatives or plant-derived ambrette.
Deer Musk (Muscone)
Not used. All musk notes are achieved through synthetic white musks (Galaxolide, Habanolide, Exaltolide) or macrocyclic musks that are IFRA-compliant and cruelty-free.
Ambergris (Whale)
Not used. Ambergris notes are replicated using synthetic ambroxide (Ambrox/Ambrofix) — a biotechnology-derived compound with an identical scent profile.
Civet & Castoreum
Not used in any formulation. Animalic undertones, when present, are created via synthetic indole, skatole at safe concentrations, or civet accord.
Beeswax & Honey Notes
Some formulations may contain beeswax absolute or synthetic honey accord for sweet/waxy facets. Products containing actual beeswax absolute will be identified upon request.
Oud / Agarwood Sourcing
Agarwood (oud) is derived from Aquilaria and Gyrinops species trees listed under CITES Appendix II, meaning international trade requires documentation. Attar Emporium sources oud from suppliers who provide appropriate CITES documentation and/or uses high-quality synthetic oud accords that do not require CITES compliance. We do not purchase oud from unverified sources, and we actively support sustainable agarwood cultivation practices.
Section 09
Safe Use Guidelines
Patch Test Before First Use
Apply a small amount to the inner wrist or elbow crease. Wait 24 hours. If no reaction occurs, proceed with normal use. Especially important for those with sensitive skin or known fragrance allergies.
Eyes & Mucous Membranes
Do not apply perfume oils near eyes, inside nostrils, or on mucous membranes. If contact occurs, flush with clean water for 15 minutes and seek medical advice if irritation persists.
Sun Exposure Warning
Certain fragrance compounds (bergapten in citrus oils, some florals) may cause photosensitization. Avoid direct sun exposure on application areas for up to 12 hours after applying products containing citrus or floral notes.
Proper Storage
Store tightly capped, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, at room temperature (59°F – 77°F / 15°C – 25°C). Exposure to heat and UV light degrades aromatic compounds and shortens shelf life.
Pregnancy & Nursing
Consult your healthcare provider before using concentrated fragrance oils during pregnancy or while nursing, particularly formulations containing high levels of spice-category compounds (eugenol, cinnamal).
Keep Out of Reach of Children
Concentrated perfume oils are not intended for use on children under 3 years of age. Keep all products stored securely out of the reach of children. Not for ingestion.

How to apply perfume oils?
Key Application Tips:
- Best Spots: Target areas where blood vessels are closest to the skin, such as wrists, behind the ears, base of the throat, inner elbows, and behind the knees.
- Timing: Apply after a shower or on well-moisturized, unscented skin to lock in the fragrance.
- Technique: Dab or roll a small amount (a little goes a long way) and allow it to dry.
- Hair & Clothing: Lightly apply to hair tips for a long-lasting, subtle scent, or apply to inner seams of clothing for better, safe projection.
- Avoid Rubbing: Rubbing the oil (e.g., by rubbing your wrists together) can dissipate the top notes and diminish the fragrance.
